About

Token Dog watches your local Claude Code, Codex, and Gemini-CLI usage and turns it into a 12-step tension level. An always-on-top dog sprite plays a different animation at each level — from a sleeping curl when nothing is happening to a full DJ set when you're burning through tokens. Choose from 11 breeds, including Corgi, Shiba Inu, Jindo, Poodle, and more.

• iCloud aggregation syncs token-count samples only — never raw logs, code, prompts, or chats. The sync interval is adjustable from 1 to 60 minutes.
• Statistics can show all iCloud Macs together or filter usage by each Mac's device name
• Show Codex limits automatically, and optionally install a local Claude Code status line bridge to show 5-hour and weekly Claude limits
• Menu-bar only — no Dock icon. The status item shows an animated B/W dog at the current tension
• Toggle "Always on top", adjust sensitivity, override the level manually

Tension levels

The sensitivity slider scales every threshold by 1 / sensitivity, so a higher value pushes the dog to a higher level for the same token rate.

Requirements

• macOS 14 (Sonoma) or later
• Apple Silicon recommended (Intel works too)
• You must have at least one of Claude Code (~/.claude), Codex (~/.codex), or Gemini CLI (~/.gemini) writing logs locally for token data to appear
• Claude Code limit percentages require the optional local status line bridge; command-based custom status lines are wrapped so their original output remains visible
• No account inside the app, no ads, no in-app purchase. iCloud aggregation is optional.
